Newly commissioned West Gate 1 at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), a landmark project constructed by the LASPOTECH Alumni Association

‎The Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) Alumni Association has officially commissioned West Gate 1 at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), a landmark project aimed at strengthening security, reinforcing institutional identity, and deepening alumni-community ties.

‎The event had in attendance members of the University Governing Council, members of management, alumni association members, staff of the university, and distinguished guests, all gathered to celebrate a milestone that reflects the collective vision of the institution and its graduates.

‎Speaking at the event, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, Vice-Chancellor of LASUSTECH, expressed that the university is in a season of favour and blessings, noting that it had just celebrated its fourth Founder’s Day on February 2, 2026, and will host its first inaugural lecture on February 17, 2026.

He thanked the alumni for their sacrifice and investment, describing the project as proof that, “we all can do more working together”.

Odusanya pledged that the university would continue to provide a conducive environment for teaching, learning, service, and research.

‎While recounting the conception and execution of the project which began in 2022, Dr. Adeyinka Adewusi, President of the LASPOTECH Alumni Association, emphasized the alumni’s resilience in mobilizing resources despite financial challenges.

He announced further commitments, including the donation of security equipment for the security post at West Gate 1, and the construction of a lecture hall.

He noted that the gate project was approved by the 12th Governing Council of the legacy institution, and thanked the institution for the support in making the vision a reality.

‎Prof. Rasheed Ojikutu, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, described West Gate 1 as more than a physical structure, calling it a “bridge between past, present, and future”.
He commended the alumni for their foresight and unity, stressing that the gate symbolizes continuity, belonging, and the enduring bond between LASUSTECH and its graduates.
